A PRIMARY school has been plunged into a police inquiry after it emerged that its deputy head teacher is being investigated for possessing indecent images of children and inciting a child to commit a sexual act online.
David Jenkins, 51, resigned from the school in Somerset. Staff raised concerns with the local council over suspected inappropriate contact with former pupils which has lead to the police investigation.
Jenkins, who taught at Mead Vale Primary School in Worle, did not return to the school in September and resigned from his position in November last year.
According to a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police, Jenkins has been arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children and inciting a child to commit a sexual act online.
Officers have made clear they have found no evidence of any alleged victims being connected with the school, which educates 420 pupils aged between four and 11.
